Something for everyone…
Chancel Choir
This choir is made up of volunteer adults but is open to older youth who like to sing. The choir sings a wide variety of music from the traditional sacred music repertoire. On special occasions, such as Christmas, the choir presents an extended choral work with instrumental accompaniment. The choir meets regularly in the choir rehearsal room downstairs (Hunter Hall for the time being) on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 PM. The group usually takes the month of July off. Solos and ensembles provide music for the worship service in July. This is truly an “intergenerational” choir! Warm ups on Sunday morning begin at 10:05 AM in the choir room) prior to helping lead the congregation in worship at 10:30 a.m.
Length of Service: September through June
Number of Service Hours: 2-3 hours per week, more for special services
Jubilate Hand Bell Choir
The Jubilate Bell Choir is an adult handbell choir with experienced players. However, the invitation is always open for those (youth or adult) desiring to learn how to “ring.” You do not need to be a musician (play instruments, sing, or be able to read music.) We will help you develop the skills you need to ring bells. Our goal is to lead in worship by playing appropriate Handbell/Handchime literature. Rehearsals and playing occasions occur September through May. Commitment to bell choir requires regular attendance at rehearsals and “performance” times. This group has participated in community activities in the past, also, including county-wide handbell festivals and concerts at retirement communities.
Length of service commitment: September through May.
Number of Service Hours: varies
Praise Band
This ensemble presently consists of volunteers who play piano, guitar, and percussion. They usually play on the months with fifth Sundays. Other instrumentalists are welcome to join this group.
