Join us for Presbyterian Women in the Congregation (PWC)

The Presbyterian Women in the Congregation (PWC) exists to build community, affirm women’s call to leadership and communicate to and from Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery. Here at First Pres Laurens, Presbyterian Women welcomes women of all ages. We are organized within the church by “Circles.” Circles are a small group opportunity for fellowship, Bible study and many opportunities for service and ministry both within our church family and in the community.

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN MINISTRIES

Bible Study: We provide Bible study at monthly Circle meetings.

VIPs: Each Circle remembers those who are not able to attend church with visits, cards, etc. during the year.

College & Military Ministry: We maintain contact with college students and members of the armed services in our congregation in various ways during the school year.

Celebrations of Births and Baptisms: We place a rose in the sanctuary to honor the birth of a child in our congregation. On the occasion of a baptism, we present a cross-stitched picture with the date of the baptism along with a candle to be lighted on the anniversary of the baptism.

Thornwell: We provide funds and assistance for Thornwell Home for Children in Clinton throughout the year.

Christmas Projects: Circles select projects each December that touch the lives of our community. Past projects include gifts for Laurens Memorial Home & Presbyterian Home, gifts for Thornwell children, and coats for the needy, etc.

Mission Haven: we provide financial support to this residential facility in Georgia where Christian missionaries find affordable short-term housing and hospitality. When needs arise, we also facilitate clothing donations for missionary families as well as seminary students.

World Day of Prayer: We join other area churches and women worldwide on the first Friday in March to pray for countries and their leaders.

Other Ministry Projects: Laurens Memorial Home, Laurens County SAFE Home, local food pantry collection, C4 Ministries of Laurens County.

Bridal Showers: We host bridal showers to honor and show our love for those who have grown up in our church, bride or groom, for their first marriage.
